The students have worked extremely hard to go head top head with 31 participating teams at the World Finals held at the Royal Horticultural Halls in London on the 14th – 17th of September.

Together, as Synergy, the international team had to design and make their own Formula 1 scale car that would be ready to take on the rest of the finalists.
During the three-day competition, which was supported by the government and all of the F1 race teams, each team had to take part in a time trials, racing against the clock.

Not only were judges looking for the fastest car, teams were also being judged on elements such as teamwork, engineering excellence, marketing and their presentation skills – both verbally and in their team portfolios.

One of the competitions highlights was the students chance to meet reigning F1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton.

Lewis said of his visit to the F1 in Schools World Championships, “I’ve really enjoyed meeting the students and finding out more about this exciting global initiative. The global popularity and high tech world of Formula One provides a very exciting and engaging platform for education and it is great to see it being used within schools to enthuse students to study engineering, as well as the other key school subjects. I hope F1 in Schools encourages a new generation of students into Formula One and helps to continue to develop the sport as one of the most technologically advanced in the world.”
