Standard Needle Cam Followers and Cam Yoke Rollers

Unlike ordinary products, Carter cam followers and cam yoke rollers feature a robust outer race design and are capable of accepting high radial and shock loads. As a full complement needle design, Carter cam followers and yoke rollers allow designers to make provision for high loads too. Our cam followers feature an integral stud for easy mounting, and to allow loads to be more evenly spread, our cam yoke rollers use a through shaft for mounting in a ‘yoke’ assembly.

Further options include crowned rollers to reduce the stresses of angular misalignment and eccentric collars which allow for mounting misalignment. For higher loads, heavy stud options are available together with seals to exclude contaminants and extend bearing life.

Hi-Roller™ Idler Rollers

Carter Hi-Roller™ idle rollers are designed to cater for combinations of high radial and thrust loads. They offer many advantages over standard needle bearing cam followers, a feature a design using either deep groove ball or taper roller bearings to provide a higher speed capability with a given load.

Carter Hi-Roller™ idle rollers are supplied as standard with high capacity sealing and an expansion plug on one end with a radial lip on the other end. This makes them particularly suitable for use in highly contaminated environments, especially in applications where moisture, dust or powder may be present.

Neverlube™ Cam followers and Bearings

Neverlube™ cam followers and cam yoke rollers were another industry ‘first’ for Carter. Our design features a sintered brass bush combined with a grease reservoir that uses capillary action to control lubrication, thus providing much greater freedoms for designers of machinery where access for lubrication is challenging .

 

Neverlube™ cam followers and cam yoke rollers from Carter are therefore well suited to applications where relubrication is either difficult or impossible, including areas of frequent washdown and those with high levels of ambient contamination. Our bushing design has been proven to reduce the possibility of bearing failure and costly production downtime by assuring correct lubrication.

Standard Imperial Cam Followers

Carter cam followers and cam yoke roller track rollers offer many benefits over standard bearings. A robust outer race and full complement needle design makes them capable of accepting high radial and shock loads. Carter cam followers have an integral stud so that they can be easily mounted in application, and our cam yoke rollers use a through shaft for mounting in a ‘yoke’ format, spreading the load in the assembly much more evenly to deliver in-service advantages that include quieter, smoother running and extended life.

 

Carter cam followers for linear motion, conveyors and process lines feature thicker outer rings than normal bearings to reduce distortion and distribute load more evenly, whatever the configuration. Additional options include crowned rollers to reduce the stresses of angular misalignment and eccentric collars to allow for mounting misalignment. Additional options include heavy stud options for higher loads as well as seals to extend bearing life by excluding contamination.

Chrome Plated Cam Followers

For designs demanding increased corrosion protection, reduced friction and greatly improved wear rates, the Carter SBC thin dense chrome plated cam follower range offers all these significant advantages. SBC thin dense chrome cam followers also provide a much higher load carrying capacity than stainless steel versions, and are proven to be more cost-efficient.

 

Carter cam bearings are produced from 52100 bearing steel which is thin dense chrome coated and then assembled with 440C stainless steel rollers and food grade grease as standard.

 

Carter’s thin dense chrome coating increases surface hardness to 78Rc, delivering increased wear life. The coating’s surface finish can provide a coefficient of friction as low as .12. Further, our thin dense chrome coating provides corrosion resistance which is equivalent to that delivered by 440C stainless steel.

 

The Carter thin dense chrome coating has been proven and approved for more than 50 years in critical applications in the aerospace, marine, nuclear, oil and gas and defence sectors. It has proved particularly valuable for designers working on projects involving operation especially aggressive environments.
