Lightweight slewing rings are specialized precision bearing components designed for applications requiring minimal weight without compromising load capacity. Our custom lightweight slewing rings combine advanced materials and engineering to deliver exceptional performance in aerospace, renewable energy, and specialized industrial applications

Due to the significant technological advancements in robotics, automation, space and defense, there is a high demand for space-saving and weight-saving bearing solutions. The UNASIS thin section bearing ranges help to service this market; however, in order to further simplify the process, we have a range of lightweight, pre-greased, ready to assemble bearing units. Both easy to mount and easy to maintain the IKT and IPT bearings can be mounted via inner or outer ring.

Custom Bearing Materials

The IKT and IPT housings are available in various materials and gearing arrangements depending on your requirements. They are available in standard Steel, Stainless Steel and Aluminium. UNASIS aluminium slewing rings can be provided in 7075-T6 aluminium. The thin section insert bearings are typically 420 Stainless Steel for added corrosion resistance.

Specialist Coatings and Lubrications

With our aluminium slewing rings, we commonly anodise all surfaces except gear teeth when requested. Additional painting services are also available upon request. We offer dry film lubrications along with a full range of specialist greases based on each application. Our bearing engineers can advise precisely what you require.

Custom Bearing Design

Although we have an extensive standard range, most of our slewing ring solutions are custom designed for specific application criteria. Our bearing engineers can offer full application engineering support with lifetime testing with our proprietary bearing software, FEA validation and custom design to include special features like locations for encoders.

Testing and Validation

We have the capacity to test and validate our lightweight slewing rings. This includes runout tests and torque tests. We are able to achieve submicron runout tolerances and provide critical documentation to support this. As torque is a critical performance indicator for all mechanical systems, we can precisely adjust the starting and running torque for all of our custom slewing rings. We have gigs and fixtures to validate this torque which can then be modified using either ball selection or shims. Again, conformance documentation can be provided for validation.

Custom Slewing Rings

Comprising of either two four-point contact ball bearings or a single cross roller split thin section bearing the IKT and IPT can withstand axial loads, radial loads, and moment loads without issues. UNASIS Slewing Bearings are available ungeared, internally geared or externally geared to suit your application.
